Indonesia sent relief and medical team to Haiti

The Indonesian government sent teams of health and humanity Assistance for the earthquake victims in Haiti, Monday (18/12). The assistances are including 3 tons of medicine and medical supplies, 5 tons of supplementary food breast milk (MP-ASI) and 1 unit of RS Field. The statement was announced at the Press Release Centre for Public Communication, Secretariat General of the Ministry of Health.
 
The team is led by Dr. R. Suhartono, Sp. B (K) BV of the RSCM and composed of 29 people consisting of 15 staffs from the Ministry of Health (3 people from the Centre for Crisis and 12 people from Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital), 3 people from Bogor Red Cross Hospital and 2 doctors from the DVI (Disaster Victim Identification) of the National Police, and 10 men from the military health centre (2 specialist doctors, 2 doctors, 1 pharmacist and 5 other health personnel). Overall, the team consists of 10 specialists, 2 doctors DVI and 18 other health personnel.
 
Health teams and humanitarian aid was flown on Monday night by plane from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta to Port Au Prince, Haiti, via Honolulu. The team will assist the disaster victims in Haiti for 2 weeks.

Last week, Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had instructed Rapid Response Disaster Management Unit (SRC-PB) to send relief team to Haiti, to help and assist the government of Haiti and its people, after earthquake hit and left catastrophe in the island nation.

"I have instructed the Indonesian relief team to fly to Haiti to help the victims of the natural disaster," Said President Yudhoyono, on Thursday at the Halim Perdanakusuma Airport to the SRC-PB Personnel.
