Type Of Visa




A. PAYABLE VISA

A.1. Transit Visa

Transit Visa is for transiting through and continuing travel to other countries of destination. Transit visa is also applicable to captain and crew members intending to sign on vessel / aircraft which is operating in Indonesia.

The validity of transit visa is 90 days from the date of issuance, with a staying period up to 14 days. In force majeure situation, transit visa is extendible for another period of 14 days, for a maximum stay of 60 days.

Transit Visa applications shall be submitted by the applicant concerned or by his/her sponsor after fully complying with the visa requirements:

1. Requests for a Transit Visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration forms.
2. Two 4x6cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
3. Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
4. Onward ticket to the country of destination.

Transit visa fee is THB 620.

A.2. Visa on Arrival

Visa on Arrival is a visa granted at the immigration checkpoints on arrival of certain foreign nationals that excluded off the visa-free shorts visit eligibility. The visa is for governmental duties, tourism, business and social cultural purposes. The visa is good for 30 days and extendible for another 30 days. Visa on Arrival fee is USD 25.



A.3. Visit Visa

Visit Visa is for the visit with the purpose of governmental duties, tourism, business and social cultural. Visit Visa is prohibited against employment activities.

The validity of visit visa is 90 days from the date of issuance, with a staying period up to 60 days, and extendible.
Foreign nationals from Visa-Free Short Visits Countries DO NOT NEED to have a visit visa if the period of the visit is less than 30 days. However, Visa-Free Short Visits is not extendible.

Visit Visa fee is THB 1,380.

There are four types of visit visa as aforementioned purposes:
1. Governmental Duties Visa; 2. Tourist Visa; 3. Business; 4.Social Cultural Visa (including Journalist Visa).


A.3.1. Governmental Duties Visa

Governmental Duties Visa is for the conduct of official government visit, which includes activities of Government to Government, person to Government, an international organization to the Indonesian Government, or a private foreign organization/body to the Indonesian Government.

Foreign nationals from Visa-Free Short Visits Countries DO NOT NEED to have a governmental duties visa if the period of the visit is less than 30 days. However, Visa-Free Short Visits is not extendible.

Governmental Duties Visa applications shall be submitted by the applicant concerned or by his/her sponsor after fully complying with the visa requirements:

1. Requests for a Governmental Duties Visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration forms.
2. Two 4x6cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
3. Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
4. Onward or return ticket.
5. A reference letter confirming the person’s governmental duties in Indonesia.

A.3.2. Tourist Visa

Tourist Visa is for tourism visit, which includes various tourism activities, such as visiting tourist sites, developing the tourism industry in Indonesia, or managing / conducting package tours to Indonesia.

Foreign nationals from Visa-Free Short Visits Countries DO NOT NEED to have a tourist visa if the period of the visit is less than 30 days. However, Visa-Free Short Visits is not extendible.

Tourists Visa applications shall be submitted by the applicant concerned or by his/her sponsor after fully complying with the visa requirements:

1. Requests for a tourists visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration forms.
2. Two 4x6cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
3. Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
4. Onward or return ticket.

A.3.3. Business Visa

Business Visa is for the conduct of normal business activities (including attending a conference/seminar) which do not involve taking up employment. Business visa can also be used for temporary work such as after-sales service, exhibition or emergency/urgent work. Foreign citizens visiting Indonesia for a specific purpose or objective, may apply for multiple-entry visit.

Foreign nationals from Visa-Free Short Visits Countries DO NOT NEED to have a business visa if the period of the visit is less than 30 days. However, Visa-Free Short Visits is not extendible.

Business visa applications shall be submitted by the applicant concerned or by his/her sponsor after fully complying with the visa requirements:

1. Requests for a business visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration forms.
2. Two 4x6cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
3. Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
4. Onward or return ticket.
5. Reference letter / sponsor letter(s) setting out the reason for the visit, details of the duration of the proposed visit, and responsibility for accommodation/ maintenance costs.

A.3.4.Social Cultural Visa

Social Cultural Visa is for social and cultural visit, for example, visiting relatives or friends who live in Indonesia; visiting social organizations with the same type of activities; exchanging visits between educational arts, sport institutions, carrying out research, attending training program, and journalistic activities (please see journalist visa for further details).

A person granted a visa for study, research or training is not permitted to take up employment, and may not remain in Indonesia for this or any purpose other than that for which the visa was granted.

Foreign nationals from Visa-Free Short Visits Countries DO NOT NEED to have a social cultural visa if the period of the visit is less than 30 days. However, Visa-Free Short Visits is not extendible.

Social Cultural Visa applications shall be submitted by the applicant concerned or by his/her sponsor after fully complying with the visa requirements:

1. Requests for a Social Cultural Visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration forms.
2. Two 4x6cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
3. Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
4. Onward or return ticket.
5. Letter of invitation from the applicant's family/ relatives/ friends/ social organizations in Indonesia ; Letter of registration from the college/school/institution in Indonesia verifying the duration/nature of the course, training or research;

A.3.5. Journalist Visa

Journalist Visa is for the conduct of journalistic activities. Foreign journalists/reporters who intend to enter Indonesia for media coverage or documentary film purposes must have journalist visa. Before applying journalist visa, the applicant must have already obtained the special permission from related Indonesian government institutions.

The following process shall be applicable for journalist visa:

I. This visa could be obtained at the Indonesian Embassy or representative office at the country where the applicant resides, or, at the nearest country if none. The Embassy provides the application formula for media coverage and film shooting in Indonesia.
1. Requests for a journalist visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration forms.
2. Two 4x6cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
3. Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
4. List of equipments that are brought into Indonesia (if any). The list also states that the equipments will not be sold in Indonesia.
5. Sponsor letter from his/her News Agency/Editor stating the purpose of travel to Indonesia, places to be visited/covered, and the date/schedule of coverage.
6. Synopsis or background information of the story/documentation to be made in Indonesia.

II. Applicant(s) will be further informed by the Embassy regarding the date and time for visa collection.

III. For interview of State/Government officials purposes, applicant/editor should also fax a written request to:

IV. Once granted journalist Visa, the applicant should report to:

Directorate of Press and Information Services, Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Jl. Taman Pejambon 6, Jakarta Pusat

upon the arrival in Indonesia, to collect Temporary Press Card.


V. For documentary film purposes, the applicant should also report to:

Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy
Jl. M.T. Haryono kav.47-48 Jakarta Selatan

to collect the shooting permit.

VI. At time of report, applicant should submit:
1. copy of passport and visa;
2. two color photographs (3x4 cm);
3. Letter of Notification provided by the Indonesian Embassy/Representative office where the visa was issued.

Journalist Visa Application should be submitted at least 1 (one) month before the departure date to Indonesia

A.4. Multiple Visit Visa

Multiple visit visa is for the visit with the purpose of business, and issued to foreign nationals who intend to visit Indonesia for a specific purpose and multiple times. Multiple Visit Visa is prohibited against employment activities.

The validity of multiple visit visa is one year from the date of issuance, with a staying period up to 60 days for each visit within a period of one year from the first admission to Indonesia using said visa.

Requirements for multiple visit visas are the same as Business Visa requirements with additional requirement on the specific purpose of business activities.

Multiple visit visa requires approval from and is issued upon approval of Director General of Immigration.

Multiple Visit Visa fee is THB 3,060.

A.5. Limited Stay Visa

Limited Stay Visas is given to foreign national for the purpose of:

1. Foreign investment;
2.Training or scientific research;
3. Education and Religion/Missionary Work;
4. Family Unification;
5. Repatriation;
6. Senior Citizen.

Requirements of Limited Stay Visa:
1. Full self identity
2. Two 4x6cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
3. Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 18 months validity from the date of submission.
4. Marriage certificate and/or birth certificate for family unification.
5. Curricullum vitae
6. Recommendation from an overseas sponsor or a sponsor in Indonesia.
7. Original letter and photocopies of the recommendation from the related Ministry for religion/missionary work, research, social work and education purposes.
8. Letter of recommendation from the technical ministry, Ministry of Manpower, Investment Coordinating Board, along with the approved Plan to Utilize Foreign Manpower document;
9. For repatriation purpose, applicant should submit proof of being a former Indonesian citizen and having sufficient funds for living expenses in Indonesia.

Limited stay visa requires approval from and is issued upon approval of Director General of Immigration.

Limited Stay Visa fees are:
- 6 months: THB 1,530
- 1 Year: THB 3,060
- 2 Years: THB 5,340

GRATIS VISA

B.1. Diplomatic Visa

Diplomatic Visa is for the conduct of diplomatic assignment in Indonesia by a foreign citizen bearing diplomatic passport.

The validity of diplomatic visa is 90 days from the date of issuance, with a staying period up to 60 days.

Diplomatic Visa applications shall be submitted by the applicant concerned or by his/her sponsor after fully complying with the visa requirements:
1. Requests for diplomatic visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration forms.
2. A diplomatic note confirming the person's diplomatic assignment.
3. Two 4x6 cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
4. Diplomatic Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.
5. Travel itinerary.

B.2. Service Visa / Official Visa

Service Visa is for the conduct of non-diplomatic official assignment in Indonesia by a foreign citizen bearing service / official passports.

The validity of service / official visa is 90 days from the date of issuance, with a staying period up to 60 days.

Service Visa / Official Visa applications shall be submitted by the applicant concerned or by his/her sponsor after fully complying with the visa requirements:
1. Requests for service visa / official visa must be submitted by filling out the appropriate registration forms.
2. A diplomatic note confirming the person's assignment as non-diplomatic in nature.
3. Two 4x6cm color passport photographs of the passport bearer.
4. Service / Official Passport (original and one photocopy of information page) with at least 6 months validity from the date of submission.

C. Visa Fees

The fee of each type of visa is as follows:
1 Transit Visa: THB 620
2. Visa On Arrival: USD 25
3. Visit Visa (Governmental Duties/Tourist/Business/Social Cultural/Journalist): THB 1,380
4. Limited Stay Visa:
- 6 months: THB 1,530
- 1 Year: THB 3,060
- 2 Years: THB 5,340
5. Multiple Visit Visa: THB 3,060
6. Diplomatic and Service/Official Visa are Gratis
