Nigerian Trade Mission (NACCIMA) Visited Indonesia

Nigerian trade mission from the National Association Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) of the D-8 Business Council visited Indonesia on December 11 to 13 June 2012.

The trade mission was directly led by the Head of NACCIMA and the Chairman of D-8 Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Herbert Ademola Ajayi, OON, who was accompanied by twelve Nigerian businessmen involving in the industries of agriculture, textile, transportation, communication, petroleum, information technology, GSM handset, pharmaceuticals, technical or construction services, hospitality and home appliances, food and beverages, as well as electrical energy.

Before visiting Indonesia, the NACCIMA delegation had also visited Turkey and Malaysia on December 2 to 10 June 2012 with a similar mission.

NACCIMA was established to create an environment conducive for private sectorsto engaging in commerce, industries, and other economic activities in Nigeria. The visit of NACCIMA D-8 trade mission to Indonesia is an effort to improve economic relationsbetween Indonesia and Nigeria, particularly in the areas of trade and investment.

On their first day, the NACCIMA D-8 trade mission visited the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Nigerian delegation was received by the Head of Centre for Policy Development on Asia, Pacific and Africa, who was also representing the Director of Africa.

After that, the NACCIMA D-8 trade mission was to meet with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and members of a business community under the support of Chamber of Commerce. Enthusiasm shown by the Indonesian business community for the NACCIMA D-8trade mission was considerably high—around 50 Indonesian businessmen were attending the meeting, which was organized by the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce.

The trade mission was also scheduled to conduct a one-on-one business meeting with Indonesian businesspersons at Grand Melia Hotel, Jakarta. This meeting was facilitated by the Nigerian Embassy in Jakarta.

Furthermore, the trade mission was also planned to visit the JABABEKA industrial center in Tangerang region, so that they can personally observe one of the best integrated industrial parksin Indonesia. The visit was supported by the Foreign Ministry, the Capital Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and JABABEKA industrial center. (Source: Directorate of African Affairs)
