President: New Diplomacy in the Middle of a Changing World

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono gave an appreciation for the performance and achievements of Indonesia diplomacy. In the midst of the dynamics and complexity of the world, the President stressed the need for diplomacy to run in a more intelligent, agile and effective in producing an outcome. In diplomacy, anything can be implemented. We all must develop a 'Can do spirit'.
 
In the face of global change dynamics, the President expressed the hope and guidance regarding the implementation of Indonesia foreign policy and diplomacy.
 
President hopes that the diplomats are more confident, have a global outlook, mission control, result oriented and always ready, active and creative.
 
The President expressed the hope to 130 the Ambassador, the Consul General, Consul and Charge d'Affaires Ad Interim in the Working Meeting of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Representatives in the Pancasila Building, Foreign Ministry today (02.23.2012),
 
Furthermore, the President explained that the emergence of Indonesia as an emerging country must be accompanied by diplomats with confident mindset.
 
The President also reminded that as emerging country, Indonesia also increasingly has global responsibilities and interests in various international forums and global issues. To that end, diplomats need to have a global outlook.
 
 An ambassador or diplomat, said the President, also needs to master a mission that has always been associated with recent developments in the homeland.
 
The success or failure of a mission is measured from the results, achievements and developments. Therefore, the President asked the principle of results-oriented diplomacy to always be considered. "Always be ready, active and creative," said the President.
 
In addition to these expectations, the President also delivered a number of directives such as drafting the white book of implementation of foreign relations and the acceleration interpreter training for all languages that can be assigned either at bilateral and multilateral meetings.
 
The president also wants the conducive work situation to be maintained. Another thing conveyed by the President is the attempt to shorten the time for the filling of ambassador position.
 
Presidential Briefing event is part of a series of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Representative 2012 Working Meeting held in Jakarta, 20-24 February 2012. Attending the event are a number of Ministers of United Indonesia Cabinet II.
