Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) is an international treaty in the field of arms controls which prohibits production, stockpiling and utilization of chemical weapons. CWC entered into force on 29 April 1997 and the administration of the implementation CWC was carried out by Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) which is an independent and not under the United Nations.

Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) is a treaty which seeks to limit the proliferation of nuclear weapons and was signed on 1 July 1968. 189 sovereign states ratified the NPT and they are classified into two categories: Nuclear Weapon States (NWS) and Non-Nuclear Weapon States (NNWS). In principle, NPT is the commitment of five NWS states to realize general and complete disarmament and the commitment of NNWS states not to develop or acquire the nuclear weapons. Furthermore, NPT also asserts that it protects the right of countries to develop nuclear for peace purposes.

The Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on their Destruction (Biological Weapons Convention/BWC) is an international agreement in arms control which prohibits the production and stockpiling of biological weapons. BWC came into force as of 26 March 1975.

Myanmar is the region’s thorny issue because of the international community focus on events in that country. “Democratization” is one of the main topics raised by Myanmar’s detractors in addition to human rights issue and transnational organized crimes that prevailed in that country.
