In the commemoration of the 67th Independence Day this year, on the August 15, 2012, the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok and DWP (Indonesian Women’s Association) organized social activities by visiting Indonesian nationals detained in Klong Pherm Prison and Bangkok’s Women Correctional Institute (Women's Prison).

This activity is aimed at fostering, paying visits, and giving moral strength to all Indonesians abroad, especially to the seven male inmates in Pherm Klong Prison and one female inmate at the Bangkok Women's Prison.

It is hoped that through this activity, the joy and celebration of the Indonesian Independence Day and the Eid al-Fitr can be felt by all Indonesian citizens in foreign countries, including the prisoners. On average, the Indonesian inmates in both places were sentenced to 20 years imprisonment or more on different crimes, among others drugs cases.(gi/ras)
