30 May 2012

To further increasing the awareness of Indonesian art and culture, and also to measure students' capability in several fields of science, the Indonesia School in Singapore (SIS) participated in Apresiasi Kreasi dan Seni Sekolah Indonesia Luar Negeri, which was held in Denpasar, Bali, on 21 – 25 May 2012.

According to the Principal of SIS, Yaya Sutarya, the competition was specifically for Indonesian students in Indonesian school overseas. "The potential of Indonesian students overseas, such as in Singapore, not least by the students in Indonesia, and this kind of competition to further explore the potential and the talents of each student" Yaya said.

Furthermore, the Coordinator of Information, Social and Cultural Indonesian Embassy in Singapore, Simon D.I.Soekarno, in accepting the SIS contingent expressed his gratitude to the teachers who tirelessly train the students, and parents who allow their children to participate. On this occasion, Simon said that the competition will form a belief in students to always uphold sportsmanship, because in every competition there is always winning and losing. "Do not grieve for the loss, and do not be encouraged by the win, which must be understood with the opportunity, space and time and perseverance in practice, you have to do the maximum" Simon said.

Simon also reminded the students that winning is not the only goal of the competition, but how can they learn to respect and appreciate the opponent's advantage. "Make the experience to compete this time as a lesson to move forward with confidence, having a strong mental, good personality, passionate, do not give up easily, tough and resilient and being successful in the future" Simon added.
